Retail Assistant Manager Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Retail Manager to provide oversight for all operations of our hardware store. The Retail Assistant Manager leads all operations at the location and is responsible for making sure the store functions smoothly while optimizing profits. The Retail Assistant Manager will direct restocking efforts, the floor merchandising plan, as well as conduct hiring, scheduling and training. In this position, the Retail Manager must be able to garner respect and motivate personnel to perform at their maximum capacity, keeping the store in good working order. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of sales, staff training, merchandising, ordering, and marketing as well as strong people-skills.

Retail Assistant Manager Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist the store manager in realizing or exceeding determined sales plans and target metric objectives
• Ensure consistent execution of company’s marketing and visual presentation
• Set up advertising displays and arrange merchandise on counter or tables to promote sales
• Train staff on how to drive sales through consistent development of product knowledge and customer service standards
• Ensure compliance to policies and procedures and report concerns to senior management
• Maintain proper inventory controls, facilitate inventory transaction and bulk count as guided by senior management
• Ensure the store is secured at closing by checking if the doors are locked, alarms are set and all safes are locked
• Keep daily records of store sales, damages, deposit log, scheduling, employee discount and new hire paperwork

Retail Assistant Manager Requirements and Qualifications

• B.S./B.A. in business, marketing, sales or relevant field; M.S./M.A. is a plus
• Previous history in a managerial position
• Strong working knowledge of management best practices
• Solid communication and interpersonal skills
• Exceptional organization, strategic planning, and leadership skills
• Strong style sense and an eye for merchandising
• Familiarity with data analysis and customer traffic principles
• Computer skills, including retail management software

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
